English version now available online

We are now extending our services by providing an English version of our website for international clients. Dipl.Übers. Mag. Ingrid Friedbichler and Prof. Mag. Michael Friedbichler, M.A. have been commissioned with the translations into English.

Highly Qualified Translators Responsible for English Version

Ingrid Friedbichler is a certified translator for English and Russian. She has been working at the Department of Translation Studies of Innsbruck University teaching medical terminology and medical translation from and into English for many years.

Michael Friedbichler, who has been associated with Institut Dr. Huemer for many years, studied English Language and Literature at Innsbruck University. In addition, he completed a master’s programme at an American university on a Fulbright Scholarship and now teaches English in Innsbruck.

They both have extensive experience as translators and copy editors of English publications for medical journals. Together they have developed the curriculum for Medical English at Innsbruck Medical University and have worked as lecturers in this field for more than 30 years.

Their teaching experience in the field of Medical English provided the background for them to develop innovative English Learner’s Dictionaries and Language Guides to Dentistry (first published in 2001) and Medicine (2003). Meanwhile, both books are in their second and third editions; an electronic version of the volume on medicine was published in 2007 and presently translations of their work into other languages are under way.

Currently they are preparing Workshops on Advanced Dental English at the 33^rd Annual Congress of the European Prosthodontic Association (October 2009) in Innsbruck and at the Deutscher Zahnärztetag in Munich (November 2009), where they will be presenting ways and means how non-Anglophone dental professionals can master English to communicate competently and convincingly on an international level. In Dezember 2008, they published a ground-breaking study on this topic in the German Dental Journal (Deutsche Zahnärztliche Zeitschrift) and the Swiss Dental Monthly (Schweizer Monatsschrift für Zahnmedizin).

We are greatly indebted to Ingrid and Michael Friedbichler who—with all their expertise in medical translation and dental communication—have managed to create a highly informative English version of our website, which provides our international clients and patients outside the German-speaking countries with a good understanding of the whole spectrum of dental services and specialties offered at Institut Dr. Huemer.
